A type of flexible packaging known as a side gusset pouch has extra material on the sides that may be folded out to add more room. Side Gusset Pouches are generally meant to store “Tea” and “Coffee” so they are also called as “Tea” or “Coffee” Bags. Since Side Gusset Bags feature an additional Gusset linked to both sides of the bag, they are less box-shaped than Bottom Gusset Bags. It may not be as visually appealing when displayed on shelves, but it offers lots of space for accentuating product benefits and achieving branding goals. Due to their ability to stretch outward after being filled, side gusset bags offer the most storage space.

Extrusion, coextrusion, and lamination are just a few of the procedures used to create side gusset pouches. To make a single, seamless laminate, the components are heated and fused together. After that, the pouch is created and sealed using pressure or heat.

Plastic: The most popular material for side gusset pouches is plastic. It is pliable, lightweight, and simple to mould into many shapes. Side gusset pouches are frequently made of plastics like polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

Paper: Another common material for side gusset pouches is paper. It is reusable, eco-friendly, and suitable for printing artwork of the highest calibre. Paper, on the other hand, is less resilient than plastic and more sensitive to oxygen and moisture.

Foil: A thin coating of metal called foil is frequently combined with other fabrics to produce side gusset pouches with better barrier qualities. Foil can aid in preventing light, oxygen, and moisture from entering the pouch, hence increasing the product’s shelf life.
